My name is Monique, the owner of Bittersweet Cakes. I am the all rounder of the business, you'll find me replying to your emails, meeting with you at appointments, baking and decorating your cakes and of course delivering them to the venue!
How did I get to where I am today? From when I was little I loved to bake and do anything artsy.
I remember visiting my grandmother and climbing up her shelves in the kitchen to find the flour and beg her to bake a cake with me. I'd love to do anything from drawing to sewing and painting classes.
This passion led me to be able to do this everyday of my life!
I got my first job at a local bakery at 15, starting work as early as 2am to make bread, danishes and donuts.
From there I ventured to William Angliss and got my Diploma in Patisserie, becoming a qualified pastry chef.
After graduating I worked for 6 years in a cake shop creating thousands of birthday and wedding cakes.
With the help of all of my loyal customers and word of mouth, I have been able to make my dream a reality and work on Bittersweet Cakes full time.
I am proud of the work I produce and how far I've come, I can't wait to see the future of Bittersweet Cakes!
We were recognised as a top 3 wedding cake designer in Victoria by the 2019 ABIA wedding awards in our first year of working on Bittersweet Cakes full time.
